USHANT 2006-12-10

It is only a forlorn fog horn
That greats me this morning
In Ushant.
There was so much I wanted to give you
Just a beacon of hope
May be you do not need me
I did not entirely fail I feel
The dolphins showed us into the harbour
Now I'll have to wait even longer
For the light of your face
Singing a sad song to noone
You are a wise one
I wanted all of you
You knew the fall
I feel a fool
Only failing and ailing
Waiting
I want to build the future
Want to be the master of Time
To want be everywhere
Ubiquitous, and you be quiet my sweet
Just listen to me
Old owl howling with a self-derisive smile
Almost wishing you'd cry sometimes
There are gulls in the fog
Feathers on the water, no sea no sky
Lead laid mind, rollers on the rocks
And distant thunder
You could imagine a mad piper
Walking on water
To bring me news
Of the morning dew on your cheeks
Of the rough wilderness you try to tame
So successfully
Some day it will clear up
Lift the fog
Bear the burden
The winter cold and bright and dry
White mountain peaks
My sweet sweet one
Under the eiderdown may be
The memory of a foghorn will sound like music
And we will talk of the island magic
Of you and me
